1934
Eighty-six Chilean entrepreneurs founded the Compañía de Petróleos de Chile, which began operations in 1935 with the mission of securing Chile’s fuel supply.

1956
Copec, Enap, and Esso established Sonacol, a joint venture for the construction, maintenance, and operation of oil pipelines.

1957
Copec secured the exclusive representation of Mobil in Chile and built the lubricants production plant in Las Salinas, Viña del Mar.

1964
Copec entered the aviation fuel supply market at airports through the creation of Sociedad de Inversiones de Aviación Ltda. (SIAV).

1965
Copec opened the first Rutacentro, introducing the concept of roadside convenience stores with complementary services in Chile.

1986
Copec entered a new phase of expansion, based on operational efficiency and customer service, under the leadership of the Angelini Group.

1987
Launch of the slogan “First in Service,” which continues to define the brand to this day.

1990
Opening of the first Pronto store in Nos, marking the first step toward consolidating a nationwide convenience store network.

1992
Copec co-founds the Latin American Petroleum Company (CLAPSA), an international consortium conducting oil exploration in Ecuador.

1996
As a founding partner of Metrogas, Copec enters the natural gas distribution business.

1996
Copec assumes full responsibility for the production, distribution, and sales of Mobil lubricants in Chile.

1997
Copec and the Spanish company Areas establish the subsidiary ArcoPrime to optimize the management of the Pronto network. In 2014, Copec assumes full ownership.

2003
Copec obtains the exclusive rights to Esso and Mobil in Chile following an agreement with ExxonMobil.

2003
Copec becomes the subsidiary responsible for the liquid fuels and lubricants business of the Angelini Group. This milestone leads to the creation of the financial holding company Empresas Copec.

2010
Copec joins the controlling group of Terpel, Colombia’s leading fuel distributor, marking the beginning of its international expansion.

2011
“Viva Leer” Copec is launched, a reading promotion program that has built 106 libraries in vulnerable schools across the country.

2012
In partnership with Lanpass (now LATAM Pass), Copec launches its first loyalty program for service station and Pronto store customers.

2016
Copec acquires 100% of Mapco Express, owner of a large network of service stations in the United States.

2016
Copec reaches an agreement with ExxonMobil to acquire all operations in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. In 2018, the sale closes and the transfer is completed after fulfilling the conditions set by Colombian regulators.

2018
Copec Voltex is born—the most extensive electric vehicle charging network in South America—marking the beginning of the Company’s energy transition process.

2019
Together with its concessionaires, Copec establishes a guaranteed minimum gross monthly salary of CLP $500,000 for all service attendants.

2020
Launch of the Muevo Copec app—a new contactless digital experience available across all service stations and convenience stores.

2020
In the same year, the Muevo Empresas app was launched for small and medium-sized companies managing vehicle fleets.

2021
The company changes its corporate name from Compañía de Petróleos de Chile Copec S.A. to Copec S.A.; additionally, it publishes its Climate Change Statement.
